Department of Cardiology
Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with disorders of the heart and blood vessels. The field of cardiology is associated with diagnosis and treatment of heart failure, congenital heart defects, valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, and electrophysiology. Physicians practicing in this field of medicine are called cardiologists. Cardiologists work closely with heart surgeons, supervise drug and other heart related therapies, perform studies of basic heart-functions as well as provide on-going care and management of heart patients.
