About the DAISY Award
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999.
During Patrick’s hospitalization, his family deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say "thank you" to nurses in a very public way.
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses recognizes the super-human work nurses do every day at the bedside. UHS is proud to be a DAISY Award partner, recognizing our nurses with this special honor.

It is with great pride that we officially launch The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at University Hospital Sharjah (UHS).
This internationally recognized program honors licensed nurses who consistently demonstrate exceptional compassionate care, professionalism, and excellence in nursing practice.
By launching this program, UHS reaffirms its commitment to recognizing the invaluable contributions of our nurses—ensuring they feel appreciated while enhancing patient care and organizational excellence.
We are including a Frequently Asked Questions document along with this announcement to provide a brief introduction to the DAISY Award program. We encourage everyone to take a moment to read it.

Eligibility & Nomination Criteria
Who is eligible
Any registered nurse at UHS who consistently demonstrates excellence through clinical expertise and compassionate care
Who Can Nominate
Nominations must include specific examples of how the nurse makes a meaningful difference in the care experience of a patient or family
Selection Process
Nominations are reviewed by a committee of nurses. Winners are selected monthly and celebrated in their departments.
How to Nominate a Nurse
Nominating a nurse for the DAISY Award is simple. Share your story about the extraordinary
care you or your loved one received from a UHS nurse. Submit your nomination via email to daisy@uhs.ae or click the button below to access our online nomination form.
