Dr. Ousama Mahdi is a German Board-certified Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with over 30 years of experience. He is a pioneer in Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) in Syria and the UAE, known for performing over 20,000 coronary procedures. His expertise spans complex and high-risk interventions, radial access PCI, and 24/7 acute myocardial infarction care. Dr. Mahdi is a member of several prestigious cardiovascular societies across Europe and the Middle East.

    • Pioneered the use of primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) for acute myocardial infarction: In Syria since 2000, In Fujairah, UAE since 2013. 
    • First to implement 24/7 interventional services for the management of acute myocardial infarction: Across the entire Syrian state, In Fujairah, UAE, currently provides the same service at University Hospital Sharjah 
    • Performed over 20,000 coronary intervention procedures for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes, including: 5,000+ procedures via radial artery access, enabling: Discharge within one hour for a majority of patients, 60% of patients discharged a couple of hours after PCI 
    • Served as Specialist of Cardiology/Intervention at Eppendorf Hamburg University Hospital from 1988 to 1999 
    • Promoted to Consultant Cardiologist from 1999 onward 
    • Practiced Interventional Cardiology in Germany, Syria, and the United Arab Emirates 
    • Former Head of Interventional Cardiology Department at: Al-Basel Heart Center, Damascus (2000–2003), Dar Al-Shifa Hospital, Damascus (2003–2013)
